Madonna’s celebration of “our” birthday was, I suspect, more elaborate than mine, and she probably had more guests. But I doubt for all its imagined luxury that she could have been as happy as I was last Sunday, wearing a ridiculous hat, blowing out a flaming lotus and sharing large dollops of love with some very brave people. Would that all birthdays could be celebrated this way.
